About

Hi! My name is Angela Sealana. (I used to be Angela Santana.)

I’m a twenty-something Texan bride. My days are spent working professionally in Catholic evangelization, and my nights are sometimes spent in nerdy ‘new media’ ventures.

What can I say? I love my Catholic faith. I’d love for more people to know Jesus- Way, Truth and Life – as best they possibly can.

Why you can ‘take my word for it’

Angela received her Bachelor of Arts in English Communication Arts, concentrating in marketing and with a minor in theology, summa cum laude and an Honors Scholar from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. She has over five years of experience designing promotional materials for small non-profit organizations and persons in ministry throughout the United States and overseas. Her specialty are digital media, specifically as tools to benefit the work of non-profit, Catholic organizations.

Publications

Recent experience

  • Coordinating web, television, radio, print communications for The Pilgrim Center of Hope, a Catholic evangelization ministry. (Currently)
  • New Media Director for San Antonio Catholic Beat. (Currently)
  • Presenter, Podcast and Video Production. 2010 Media Literacy Certification Week for the Archdiocese of San Antonio by the Daughters of St. Paul.
  • Participant, 2008-2010 Catholic New Media Celebrations by the Starquest Production Network (SQPN)

Beliefs

  • The Catholic Church needs to become, once again, a driving force behind innovation in communication.
  • The Catholic Church needs to excel in translating Her message to the world in contemporary new media language.
  • Catholic ministries and parishes deserve professional-quality media products as much as Fortune 500 companies deserve them.
  • Catholics need to engage new media with an approach rooted in Scripture, Tradition, and Magisterial teaching.

  1. Hi Angela,

Good luck for your theisis. I am currently studying the same topic and from interviews that I have had I’ve started to change my mind.

Please try to be objective – I originally approched the topic with exactly the same biased opinions as yourself – the Church must adopt Social media on a widescale basis and quickly.

However I believe that I was wrong on that opinion, it is a secondary form of Communication which is much weaker than meeting the community face to face, sharing their concerns and more importantly listening to people.

Social Media is probably fine as a news outlet but can that time be better spent on high quality forms of communication which is more likely to make a difference to people’s lives? ……….

  2. God’s blessings.

I just seen the show you were on Catholicism Live. I applaud you in your efforts. I have been involved in this new online media. My website http://thecatholicdefender.webs.com/ and my FaceBook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Defenders-of-the-Catholic-faith/228839851567?ref=mf you will see I have been trying. The thing I have found in my time in doing this is, some Catholics and most non-Catholics do not know what we really teach. Getting the true of what the Catholic church teaches and believes is most important. I look forward to your posts and hope to see you on my sites as well.

    God bless

  3. Dear Angela,

Blessings as you complete your academic work. I’m delighted that you are graduating in May 2010, with a BA in English Communication Arts with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Theology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. From the work that I am doing in faith-based educational technology, I would hope that you will be attentive to what is happening in the learning world, especially catechetics, with the evolving digital tools. We are truly in a world that is changing rapidly around us. Many blessings!
